THE LOVIE AWARDS ANNOUNCES 7TH ANNUAL CALL FOR ENTRIES
Honouring the Best of the European Internet
New award categories will recognise excellence in Podcasts and Internet Video
London, 1 March 2017 — The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS)—the presenting body of the international Webby Awards and its sister awards organisation The Lovie Awards—announced today the official opening of The 7th Annual Lovie Awards Call for Entries.
The Lovie Awards is the only pan-European awards organisation to honour the full breadth of the European Internet, including Websites, Online Advertising, Internet Video, Mobile Sites, Apps & Podcasts and Social. The Early Entry Deadline is 21 April 2017 at lovieawards.com. Finalists are announced in September 2017 and Winners in October 2017 with a celebration in November 2017 in London.
Entrants compete not only to win a Lovie Award and The People’s Lovie Award (fan favourite), but to deliver their Declaration of Lovie Acceptance Speech and follow in the footsteps of previous years’ winners including 2016 Person of the Year Annie Lennox, Lifetime Achievement Winner Yann LeCun, Artist of the Year Romain Gavras, Internet Video Person of the Year Patricia Bright and Creators for Change Winners Rose Ellen Dix and Rosie Spaughton of YouTube fame—among others.
The 7th Annual Call for Entries features a select group of new Lovie Award categories, including a new Podcasts suite, Best Social Video Series (in Social Excellence), Best Use of GPS/Location Technology and Experimental & Innovation (in Mobile Sites, Apps & Podcasts), Video Advertising and Best Cause Marketing Campaign (in Online Advertising) and more.
All work is judged by 450+ Academy members representing Europe’s best and brightest in digital, including actor Stephen Fry, musician Imogen Heap, Robin Chase (Co-Founder, Buzzcar), Alexander Ljung (CEO, SoundCloud), Jane Gorley (Creative Director, Style.com), Mel Exon (CEO, The Sunshine Company), Yann LeCun (Director, Facebook AI Research) and Corinne Vigreux (Co-Founder, TomTom).
The Lovie Awards was created in 2011 to specifically honour the outstanding online work made for the European audience, taking into account local market differences. To do so, work is accepted and judged in seven native languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish.
