THE 7TH ANNUAL LOVIE AWARDS TO HONOUR SAM SAFFOLD AS THE 2017 LOVIE CREATOR FOR CHANGE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH YOUTUBE

The Lovie Awards and YouTube continue their partnership for the second consecutive year, recognising a Creator for Change with the European Internet’s top honour

SAM SAFFOLD TO DELIVER A DECLARATION OF LOVIE SPEECH AT THE LOVIE AWARDS, ALONGSIDE LIVIA FIRTH (EMERGING ENTREPRENEUR), EVE ONLINE’S PROJECT DISCOVERY (LOVIE BE GREATER WITH DATA) AND DR. QUENTIN STAFFORD-FRASER (LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT)

London, Thursday, 26 October 2017: The Lovie Awards, the most prestigious pan-European honour for online excellence, announced today that this year’s Lovie Creator for Change Winner is Sam Saffold (SuperSamStuff). Mr. Saffold will accept the award on stage at the 7th Annual Lovie Awards at Picturehouse Central in London on 16th November.

This is The Lovie Awards second consecutive year partnering with YouTube on the Lovie Creators for Change Award. As an extension of the YouTube Creators for Change programme, the award honours creators whose work exemplifies the programme’s mission: to use the global power of online video to combat misunderstanding, fear and intolerance on the Internet, and to celebrate hope and positivity for audiences everywhere. Last year’s inaugural recipients were Rose Ellen Dix and Rosie Spaughton (Rose and Rosie), who accepted the award presented by Humza Arshad, a YouTube Creator for Change Ambassador, and writer/creator of the web series “Diary of a Badman.”

The 7th Annual Lovie Awards honours YouTube Creators for Change Fellow Sam Saffold this year for his innovative use of YouTube to spread positivity create social change. With his haunting 26-minute film “A Welcoming Place,” for example, Saffold confronts xenophobia in a manner that both draws the viewer into a gothic supernatural setting, while also altering their real-world perspective of “otherness.”

Sam Saffold will take the stage at the 7th Annual Lovie Awards, hosted by Irish comedian Aisling Bea on 16 November at Picturehouse Central to deliver a signature “Declaration of Lovie” acceptance speech. Sam will join alongside special achievement honourees Livia Firth (Emerging Entrepreneur), EVE Online’s Project Discovery (Lovie Be Greater with Data) and Dr. Quentin Stafford-Fraser (Lifetime Achievement).
