28 September 2017, London: The Lovie Awards is thrilled to announce that award-winning comedian, actress and writer, Aisling Bea will host the 7th Annual Lovie Awards Show, which takes place on Thursday 16 November 2017, at Picturehouse Central, Piccadilly, London.

The Irish comedian who won The Gilded Balloon’s “So You Think You’re Funny” award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012, making her the second woman to have won it in the award’s 25-year history, will lead the prestigious and unique pan-European Lovie Awards Show which celebrates Europe’s brightest creative talents and honours online excellence across Websites, Online Advertising, Internet Video, Mobile Sites, Apps & Podcasts, and Social.

The Lovie Awards, the sister of the international Webby Awards, expands on the tradition of the trademark 5-word acceptance speech of The Webbys by asking winners to deliver a “Declaration of Lovie,” a unique acceptance speech that must include the word “Love” in the language of their choice. As host, Aisling Bea will ensure that winners abide by the tradition.

With voting in The People’s Lovie Awards still open through 5 October, the whole of the European Internet turns its attention to the highly anticipated announcement of all winners on Wednesday 11 October. As well as award winners in Websites, Online Advertising, Internet Video, Mobile Sites, Apps & Podcasts and Social from across Europe, The Lovies also presents a number of Special Achievement Awards, which will be revealed on the 11th. Past Special Achievement honourees include Annie Lennox (Person of the Year), Romain Gavras (Artist of the Year), Süddeutsche Zeitung (Lovie Be Greater with Data Award), Yann LeCun (Lifetime Achievement) and Rose Ellen Dix and Rosie Spaughton (Lovie Creators for Change Award).

Nicolas Roope, IADAS Jury Chairman for The Lovie Awards commented: “Much like our winners, Aisling Bea is supremely talented and it’s an honour and a privilege to welcome her into The Lovie Awards family.”

Winner of the British Comedy Award for Best Female TV Comic 2014, Aisling Bea was nominated in 2013 for Best Newcomer in the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards, latterly the Perrier awards, for her show C’est La Bea.

Earlier this year, she competed in series 5 of Taskmaster against Bob Mortimer, Sally Phillips, Nish Kumar and Mark Watson.

She has appeared as a guest on a number of panel comedy shows, including 8 Out of 10 Cats (latterly as a team captain), Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Celebrity Squares, Would I Lie to You?, QI, A League of Their Own, Duck Quacks Don’t Echo, Room 101, Insert Name Here, The Big Fat Quiz of Everything and The Jonathan Ross Show.

She has also appeared performing stand-up on Russell Howard’s Good News Extra, Channel 4’s Comedy Gala and Live at the Apollo.
